The story with the dogs associated with the family of the famous Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, received a criminal continuation: after another attack in Vari, which injured three people, The prosecutor’s office brought charges against the animal owner.
The day before, Athens News already wrote in detail that two large shepherd dogs in Vari attacked three people at once. Now the story has moved from the stage of another incident to the criminal plane.
– suffered three people;
— the prosecutor’s office brought charges of two criminal offenses;
— Stefanos Tsitsipas’s aunt was detained;
– the trial was postponed to September 21the accused was released pending the hearing;
– This is not the first high-profile case with dogs associated with the Tsitsipas family.
Three casualties in one morning
The incident occurred September 17 in Vari. Two large dogs got out of the territory of a private house and successively attacked several passers-by.
The first victim was a 76-year-old man. A woman who came to his aid was then injured. Another 57-year-old victim was taken to hospital KATwhere she received stitches on her arm and thigh.
According to ERTStefanos Tsitsipas’ aunt was detained after the attack.
OPEN TV: new attack by dogs of the Tsitsipas family in Vari – three victims.
MEGA: dog attack, detention of Stefanos Tsitsipas’s aunt and development of the investigation.
Now it’s a criminal case
The prosecutor’s office brought charges on two counts: infliction of bodily harm due to omission, repeatedly and in complicityand also failure to take the necessary measures to prevent animals from leaving the territory.
The woman appeared in court according to the procedure αυτοφώρου. The meeting was adjourned to September 21and until this time the accused remains at large.
The story has been going on for years
The most important thing about this story is its repeatability.
- Back in May 2025, Athens News reported that The Tsitsipas family’s dog attacked a 71-year-old man in Vouliagmeni and bit him on the leg.
- The very next day additional details appeared: Stefanos Tsitsipas’ mother Yulia Salnikova stated that it was not she who took the dog out that day, but her sister. Then the story of an attack on a child about two years earlier resurfaced.
- In yesterday’s article we brought these episodes together: 2023 – attack on a 13-year-old teenager, 2025 – on a 71-year-old man, 2026 – on three people at once.
However, it has not yet been established that in all three cases we were talking about the same specific animals. What remains common is that in each case we are talking about dogs associated with the same family.
Who owns the dogs now?
Initial reports caused confusion regarding the ownership of the animals. ERT reported that one of the dogs may have been registered to the tennis player’s mother.
Later, the detainee’s lawyers stated that both dogs belong to her and were previously given to her by the Tsitsipas family. According to them, the athlete’s family is currently not responsible for maintaining the animals.
Thus, the criminal prosecution concerns not Stefanos Tsitsipas himself or his parents, but the current owner of the dogs.
Famous name and recurring problem
The athlete himself has nothing to do with the current attack. However, this is not the first time Tsitsipas’s name appears in this story, and that is why each new episode receives increased attention.
Stefanos Tsitsipas himself has had other stories not related to dogs in recent years. For example, in November 2025, Athens News wrote that cameras recorded his car on Attiki Odos at a speed of 210 km/hafter which he was given a large fine and deprivation of his driver’s license.
