Iranian night strike at the airbase Muwaffak-Salti in Jordan resulted in damage to an American A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft and approximately eight F-15 fighters.
CBS journalist Jennifer Jacobs reported this with reference to American sources; the information was then confirmed Reuters.
The blow became another episode US and Israeli wars against Iranwhich is increasingly extending beyond the borders of Iran itself and the Persian Gulf. American facilities in countries of the region that are formally not direct participants in the conflict are under threat.

A-10 was heavily damaged
The most seriously damaged was one A-10 Thunderbolt II – known as Warthog“Warthog”.
According to CBS, the plane received a direct hit, after which one of its wings was torn off. This information is also provided AeroTime And Middle East Eye.
The Pentagon has not yet officially announced whether the plane can be restored. But the nature of the damage suggests that the A-10 will be out of service for at least a long time.
This is no ordinary fighter: the A-10 is designed to provide close support to ground forces and destroy armored vehicles. The US Air Force has a limited number of such aircraft left, so the loss of even one aircraft matters.
F-15s damaged but returned to service
About eight F-15s received light damage. However, this is an important correction to the initial headlines: according to CBS and Reuters, after inspection and necessary repairs, these aircraft returned to service.
Thus, the confirmed damage does not equal the destruction of nine American combat aircraft. But the very fact that missiles or their fragments reached aircraft at a guarded base shows the vulnerability of the facility to massive attacks.
What is known about the attack
The Muwaffaq Salti base is located near Azraq in eastern Jordan. It is used by the Jordanian Air Force, US forces and their allies for operations in the region.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the strike. The attack occurred against the background of a new round of confrontation between the United States and Iran in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz – you can follow the development of the situation in the section “War between the USA and Iran”.
The day before, US forces reported the destruction of five Iranian oil tankers. Tehran presents subsequent attacks on American targets as retaliation. Rua.gr analyzed the details of the American campaign against Iranian infrastructure in the material “War without declaration – spoils according to the law”.
Patriot does not guarantee complete protection
Separate reports say that US forces fired more than a hundred Patriot missiles in repelling the raid. At this time, this figure has not been confirmed by CENTCOM or other independent official sources, so it should be treated with caution.
But the confirmed damage to aviation already allows us to draw a more restrained conclusion: layered missile defense was able to repel some of the threats, however did not provide absolute protection of the base.
This does not prove the thesis about the complete failure of American air defense: the F-15s were quickly returned to service, and data on the number of missiles launched, the number of interceptions and personnel losses were not disclosed. Nevertheless, Iran managed to inflict at least limited but real damage to American aviation.
Why is this kick important?
Jordan remains one of the United States’ key partners in the Middle East. A strike on a base on its territory means that the geography of the conflict is expanding – from sea routes and oil infrastructure to American air bases in Arab countries.
For Washington, this is both a military and political challenge: it has to protect not only its own ships and facilities, but also allies who risk being drawn into escalation against their will.
The current attack did not change the military balance in itself, but it showed the main thing: even a powerful American base with aircraft and air defense systems is not an unattainable target.
