The case of the assassination attempt on a 38-year-old resident of Drosia near Athens has taken a new turn: The victim’s ex-wife was detained right in the courthouse.

The man claims that she could have been the organizer of the attack, after which he received serious injuries and is undergoing long-term rehabilitation.

The assassination attempt happened in the morning September 30, 2025 at a man’s house in Drosiya. According to the case materials, the attacker was waiting for him at the entrance to the house and opened fire almost from close range.

The 38-year-old man survived, but the consequences of the attack were extremely severe: he is undergoing treatment and recovery, and his old life, according to him, has completely changed.

The ex-wife was detained in court

A new stage in the case began during the trial on charges of attempted murder.

The victim’s ex-wife came to court to act as a witness. However, she was detained there by police officers on a separate statement in which she appears as a possible instigator or organizer of the attack.

Detention itself does not mean an admission of guilt: the woman’s role and the validity of the charges must be separately assessed by the investigation and the court.

She, for her part, denies involvement in the attack and states that they are trying to deliberately drag her into this story.

“She knew too many details”

The victim spoke in detail about his version of events for the first time on the air of the program. Live News MEGA TV channel.

He argues that the attacker – a current or former partner of his ex-wife – could not have independently known so many details about his daily routine, housing, cars and family property.

The man draws attention to conversations that, according to him, took place shortly before the shooting. In particular, the ex-wife asked whether he lived at the same address and whether his work schedule remained the same.

In addition, the victim claims that she advised him to take out life insurance. He considers these episodes important for the investigation, but for now this is his version, set out in a statement and interview.

The attacker was wearing a mask, but the victim says she recognized him

According to the 38-year-old man, the shooter tried to hide his face, but the mask moved during the attack. The victim claims that he was able to recognize the attacker and immediately provided his information to the police.

Investigators detained a 29-year-old man several days after the shooting. Greek media reported that he initially denied involvement, then admitted participation in the attack and was taken into custody.

In this case, the question of possible accomplices, the motive and the role of the victim’s ex-wife must be considered separately.

Accused’s version: fear and jealousy

According to Greek media, the accused in the shooting stated that the woman was not involved in the incident, and that he himself was responsible for the attack.

He explained his actions with fear and jealousy: he was allegedly afraid that his partner might get back together with her ex-husband.

This version does not eliminate the need to verify the circumstances indicated by the victim, including the possible transfer of information about his habits, home and movements.

There were other incidents before the shooting

The 38-year-old also talks about several disturbing episodes that he believes preceded the assassination attempt.

He mentions damage to family members’ cars, as well as a traffic incident in September 2024. According to his version, the same man made a dangerous maneuver in front of his car, after which a collision occurred. Then everything was limited to material damage.

Now the investigation and the court have to establish whether these episodes were random conflicts or part of a consistent threat.

What is known so far

The fact of an armed attack and serious injury of a 38-year-old man is not disputed. The accused in the shooting is in custody while the case is being tried in court.

The victim’s ex-wife was detained in a separate proceeding related to possible incitement charges. There are no final judicial conclusions about her guilt.

For the victim, this is not just a court case: almost a year after the shooting, he continues to fight for restoration and demands to identify everyone who could be involved in the attack.
