Black mold inside bottles: which juices were recalled in Greece

The Greek Food Control Authority ΕΦΕΤ has demanded immediate recall several batches of juices “Οικογένεια Χριστοδούλου” after black mold detection inside the neck of plastic bottles.

The inspection was initiated by the Regional Directorate of ΕΦΕΤ Eastern Macedonia and Thrace after consumer complaints.

As they say in official message ΕΦΕΤinspectors discovered the development of black mold inside the necks of bottles of several types of juices produced by the company ΒΙΤΟΜ ΑΒΕΕ in Kufalia.

What juices are being reviewed?

ΕΦΕΤ requests buyers to carefully check not only the product name, but also LOT lot number and expiration date.

• Orange juice 100%, 250 ml — valid until 16/09/2026, LOT 215.6.
• Orange juice 100%, 250 ml, 1 l and 1.5 l — expiration date 09/24/2026, LOT 223.6.
• “9 fruits – 7 vitamins”, 250 ml — valid until 12/09/2026, LOT 211.6.
• “9 fruits – 7 vitamins”, 250 ml — valid until 16/09/2026, LOT 215.6.
• “9 fruits – 7 vitamins”, 1 l — expiration date 18/09/2026, LOT 217.6.
• Apple – orange – carrot, 250 ml — expiration date 11/09/2026, LOT 210.6.
• Apple – orange – carrot, 250 ml — valid until 16/09/2026, LOT 215.6.

Customers are asked not to consume the product

ΕΦΕΤ demanded that the manufacturer immediately withdraw all listed lots from the market. Checks are ongoing.

For consumers who have already purchased such bottles, the regulator directly recommends don’t drink juice.

Why is it important to look at the batch number?

The recall does not apply to all products of the brand “Οικογένεια Χριστοδούλου”, but specific production batches.

Therefore, the mere presence of this brand of juice at home does not mean that the product is included in the recall. It is necessary to compare the packaging volume, expiration date and LOT.
