appeared in the Turkish information space a list of dozens of alleged weapons and ammunition depots in Greece — the authors of the publication give their coordinates and even discuss the means of possible destruction.
Greek edition Pronews On August 28, it reported the appearance of Turkish material on the alleged location of large Greek weapons and ammunition depots.
Pronews itself characterizes the publication as psychological operation against the Greek political and military leadership and uses a much harsher formulation – he claims that the data was allegedly “leaked by Ankara.”
However, at this stage it is necessary to separate the established fact from the interpretation. There is no independent confirmation that the list was officially published by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the Turkish Armed Forces or any other government agency. Therefore, it is more correct to talk about the appearance of these data in the Turkish information space and about the statements of the authors of the publication.
Dozens of points – from Evros to Crete
According to Pronews, the published six-minute video contains satellite images and coordinates of dozens of geographical points, which the authors call storage facilities for Greek weapons and ammunition.

The publication mentions areas Evros, Macedonia, Atticaand also Samos, Rhodes, Crete, Lesvos, Lemnos and other parts of the country.
The Athens News deliberately does not reproduce the published list of exact coordinates. The very fact of its appearance has socio-political significance, however, we do not consider it necessary to duplicate the exact location of the proposed military installations.
The video accompanying the original post also shows the alleged objects in satellite imagery.
The authors are already calling weapons for the “first strike”
Of particular interest is not so much the attempt to identify military targets using open sources, but rather the way in which this information is presented.
According to Pronews, the accompanying material deals not only with the location of objects, but also with what Turkish ammunition could potentially be used against fortified storage facilities.
In particular, Turkish penetrating ammunition is called NEB And Hayalet weighing about 2000 lbs.
Moreover, the authors of the source material, according to the Greek publication, state that information about the intended targets can supposedly already be loaded into Turkish air-to-ground weapons.
There is no confirmation of this statement from independent or official sources. But this very formulation significantly changes the nature of the publication: we are no longer just talking about OSINT analysis of satellite images, but about demonstrative modeling of a possible strike.
What did the Greek General Staff say?
Pronews quotes a comment from an unnamed high-ranking source at the Greek National Defense General Staff (ΓΕΕΘΑ).
“We also know where their largest weapons depots are located, especially in central and western Turkey, including the facilities of the 1st Army, which is responsible for the direction of Evros, and we will respond at the same level, if not higher.”
It should be emphasized: this not an official statement from GEETand the words of an anonymous source cited by Pronews.
In essence, however, such an assessment is hardly surprising. Greece and Türkiye are neighboring states with a long-term military-political confrontation, and both sides inevitably conduct intelligence analysis of the infrastructure of a potential enemy.
Why now
The publication appeared against the backdrop of a noticeable rise in temperature in Greek-Turkish relations.
Just a week ago Turkish planes and drones committed 25 violations of Greek airspaceand during one of the interceptions a simulated air battle took place.
On the morning of August 28, another incident occurred: Turkish military UAV violated Greek airspace between Samothrace and Lemnos. Two Greek F-16s were scrambled to intercept.
In parallel, the Turkish Ministry of Defense welcomed the transfer of the Greek Patriot from Karpathos to Cretepresenting it as a step towards fulfilling Turkish demands, and at the same time demanded to abandon the deployment of military drones in Rhodes.
Another element of the overall picture was that The Turkish Ministry of Defense has publicly spoken about preparing for scenarios of “crisis, tension and war” against the backdrop of a changing military-political situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Greece, Cyprus and Israel
Pronews also links this to the formation of increasingly visible strategic interaction Greece, Republic of Cyprus and Israel.
This is no longer just a diplomatic construct. Cooperation between Athens and Jerusalem is expanding in the fields of weapons, air defense, unmanned systems, military training and technology exchange.
At the same time, relations between Israel and Turkey are becoming increasingly conflictual, which increases the strategic importance of Greece and Cyprus for the entire security architecture of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Editorial comment
The very fact of the appearance of coordinates should not be overestimated.
In the 21st century, large military installations cannot be completely hidden from satellite reconnaissance. High-resolution commercial imagery, geographic services, photographs, tender documents, local media reports, and even social media posts allow OSINT analysts to collect vast amounts of information.
It can be assumed that the professional military structures of Greece and Turkey know much more about each other’s respective infrastructure than any public Internet account.
So the real signal here is not that someone found objects on a satellite map, but the decision to take this material into public space and associate it with a specific “first strike” scenario.
This is already an element of psychological pressure: to show Greek society and leadership that a potential enemy allegedly knows the location of critical military infrastructure and has the means to destroy it.
At the same time, the publication also works for the domestic Turkish audience, creating the impression of a high level of intelligence capabilities and military readiness.
The combination of events in recent days is especially alarming: violations of airspace, demands for the demilitarization of islands, claims to the deployment of Greek weapons systems, public discussion of “war” scenarios and now the dissemination of an alleged list of targets.
Each of these episodes separately does not mean preparation for a conflict. But together they show how quickly war rhetoric is returning to the everyday political language of Greek-Turkish relations.
And it is this, and not the accuracy of the published map, that is the most disturbing part of the whole story.
