ΑΑΔΕ preparing a new control system: each check will reach the tax authorities almost instantly, and a sharp drop in turnover will automatically trigger an audit.
New digital platform ΑΑΔΕwhich is planned to be launched before the end of 2026, should replace the current system e-send and provide almost immediate transmission of checks issued by cash registers and fiscal electronic devices.
Now information is transmitted at certain intervals. After update ΑΑΔΕ will constantly see the number of transactions, the daily turnover of the enterprise and the operation of cash register equipment.
Plans to replace e-send were previously announced by a representative of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Omiros Tsapalos. According to him, businesses will not need to take additional actionssince the technical update will primarily affect the systems of ΑΑΔΕ itself.
The system itself will note a suspicious drop in turnover
The new platform will become more than just a repository of receipts. Risk assessment algorithms will analyze the activities of enterprises and identify unusual changes.
Will attract the attention of tax authorities a sharp decrease in the number of receipts, an unexplained drop in daily turnover, or a sudden stop in data transfer from the cash register.
In such cases, the system will automatically send a warning to control services. Inspectors will need to determine whether the change is due to actual circumstances or may indicate concealment of taxable income.
According to ΑΑΔΕ, checks will become more targeted: inspectors will be sent primarily to those companies where digital analysis has revealed an increased risk of violations.
Every payment must match a check.
The key element will be a complete combination of cash registers, POS terminals and the myDATA platform. Each electronic payment must be accompanied by the issuance of a corresponding receipt and automatic transmission of information to ΑΑΔΕ.
Thus, the tax service will be able to compare payment amount via POS, check issued and information received in myDATA. Discrepancies between these data will be the basis for additional verification.
Official information about the current mechanisms for connecting POS with fiscal devices is published on ΑΑΔΕ website.
What are the penalties?
The launch of a new platform does not cancel existing sanctions for failure to transmit tax data.
For transactions subject to VAT, the penalty is 50% tax amountspecified in the untransferred document. Minimum size – 250 euros for enterprises with a simplified accounting system and 500 euros for enterprises with double-entry bookkeeping.
There are fines for transactions without VAT 500 and 1000 euros respectively. In case of repeated violation of the sanctions double.
These provisions are enshrined in the current codification of the Tax Procedural Code.
Editorial comment
ΑΑΔΕ moves from selective checking of the past to constant monitoring of current turnover. For honest businesses, automation can reduce errors, but at the same time, any technical failure or temporary drop in sales risks turning into a digital alarm. The tax machine, as befits a machine, suspects everyone equally quickly.
