Lefkada remains one of the most popular destinations in the Ionian Islands every summer, combining easy access, spectacular scenery and some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
Among the real pearls of the island, the beach especially stands out Egremniwhich many call one of the most beautiful in the country. This fame comes from its crystal clear turquoise waters and impressive natural landscape.
However, the beauty of this place comes with a bit of adventure for those who decide to get here by land.
Road leading to Egremni from the village Afaninarrow, winding and passes through green hilly areas. Drivers here need special caution: the route is full of turns and serpentines, but this is what makes the path especially spectacular.

Recent videos posted on social media have once again brought attention to this impressive road. Footage of the “snake” route among greenery and rocks made a strong impression on Internet users.
After completing the driving part of the journey, visitors need to leave the car and go down to the sea approximately along 350 stepsleading to the beach.
The distance from Lefkada town to Egremni is approx. 40 kilometershowever, the trip takes more than an hour due to the mountainous terrain and numerous turns.
For those who do not want to drive along the serpentine road, there is also a sea way to get to the beach. In summer, excursion trips on boats and boats are organized here from areas such as Vasiliki And Nidri.
However, access to Egremni was not always the same as we know it today. Until the 1990s, access to the beach was mainly possible only by sea, and the road and large staircase that tourists use now were built later.
For those who do make it to shore, a truly impressive reward awaits. Huge white cliffs rise above the Ionian Sea, creating one of the most recognizable and dramatic landscapes in the Mediterranean, and the water here is reminiscent of exotic resorts.
Egremni is not just a beach, but a place where the road itself becomes part of the experience. And, perhaps, it is precisely this slight complexity of the path that makes meeting him even more memorable.
