Interpol puts a Ukrainian citizen on the wanted list in connection with an explosion in Monaco

Interpol announced 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovskaya is on the international wanted list, whom Monegasque authorities consider the main suspect in the case about an explosion near a residential building in the principality.

As a result of the attack on June 29, Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev, his companion Anna Nasobina and a 13-year-old child were injured. The investigation is considering the incident as an attempted murder, and the suspect herself has not yet been detained. This was reported Reuters And Associated Press.

According to the Monaco prosecutor’s office, an international arrest warrant has been issued against Berezovskaya, and Interpol has placed Red Noticeknown as a “red notice.” This is not a sentence or an automatic international warrant in the legal sense, but a request to national law enforcement authorities to locate and, if warranted, temporarily detain a person for eventual extradition.

The investigation considers the attack a prepared operation

The explosion occurred on the evening of June 29 at the entrance to a residential building in Monaco, near the border with France. According to investigators, the device was hidden in a backpack left near the building and activated remotely.

Law enforcement agencies say the alleged perpetrator may not have acted alone. Reuters reports that the device was made quite complex, and the escape route, according to investigators, passed through France, Italy and other European countries to Germany, where investigators believe the suspect could be located. German authorities have already conducted searches in the apartment and car, which are associated with the investigation. Reuters

The suspect was initially mistaken for a man

According to prosecutors and international media reports, surveillance camera footage initially showed a man wearing dark clothes and a hat. The investigation later concluded that the suspect may have used a male image during preparation and surveillance of the attack site.

The identification was reportedly made possible after examining video footage and witness statements. Interpol in its notification indicates the external signs of the wanted person, including a tattoo on her right hand. At the same time, the details of the investigation continue to be clarified, and possible accomplices and organizers have not yet been identified. Associated Press

Who was injured in the explosion?

International agencies and French media name the alleged target as Vadim Ermolaev, a Ukrainian native and entrepreneur who has lived outside the country in recent years. The authorities of Monaco did not officially disclose the names of all the victims, but the fact that three members of the same family were injured was confirmed by representatives of the prosecutor’s office.

According to Reutersthe explosion seriously injured several people, two of whom were initially in life-threatening condition. The investigation also reported that the child had already been interviewed in France, while the two adult victims at the time of the last official statements were not yet able to testify due to health conditions.

Previously, media reported that the woman received extremely severe leg injuries. This information was widely disseminated in the press, but official structures did not publicly detail the final medical data. Therefore, it is more correct in a publication to talk about a serious condition and serious injuries, rather than turning unconfirmed details into facts just because they work better in an emotional headline.

The motive has not yet been established

Monaco authorities are classifying the case as attempted murder, planting an explosive device in a public place and criminal conspiracy. However, the motive for the attack has not yet been officially announced.

A number of publications discuss possible connections of the case with commercial conflicts, Ermolaev’s previous business contacts and his activities, but law enforcement agencies have not publicly confirmed any of these versions. Therefore, it is premature to link the explosion to a specific country, intelligence agency, business dispute or organized crime. One fact remains: in one of the most protected and expensive places in Europe, someone set off an explosion at the entrance to a residential building, and they are still looking for the perpetrator.

Important: Anastasia Berezovskaya is wanted as a suspect. Her guilt has not been established by the court. The investigation continues with the participation of authorities from Monaco, France, Germany and Interpol.
