Mother from Nafpaktoswho saved a child from a car that had lost control, said that managed to react only by the sound of the gas pedal being pressed.
The mother who saved her child in Nafpaktos seconds before an out of control car crashed into the place where they werespoke about the dramatic moment. According to her, her first and only action was to grab the child in her arms and run.
As already reported “Athens News”a serious accident occurred in Nafpaktoswhen a car, moving towards the port, for reasons still unknown, got out of control and drove into the area where a woman and a child were located.
The mother managed to grab the child literally at the last second and take refuge in a nearby store. CCTV cameras recorded a moment that could have ended in tragedy if the woman had hesitated even for a moment.
“I heard the gas pedal being pressed, and the first thing I thought was to pick up the child and run.”said the woman.
According to her, there was practically no time to realize what was happening.
“I didn’t even have time to raise my head to see the car. Only by the sound did I manage to react and save my child.”she added.
The woman emphasizes that at that moment she acted not by calculation, but by instinct.
“I think any parent would do the same. I didn’t have time to think; I had to act quickly. At that moment, the sense of survival kicked in.”said the mother.
The accident occurred shortly before the port square. According to preliminary data, the elderly driver lost control of the car under as yet unclear circumstances. The car drove onto the sidewalk, demolishing restaurant tables, parked motorcycles and cars along the way, causing significant material damage.
The description of the woman is especially striking in its simplicity. There was no time for heroism, nice lines or conscious choices in this story. There was the sound of the engine, a split second and the mother’s reaction, which turned out to be faster than the car. Sometimes the difference between an ordinary day and tragedy is really just one human leap.
