AAΔΕ and e-ΕΦΚΑ will publish a list of large debtors

AAΔΕ and e-ΕΦΚΑ are preparing to publish a new list of large debtors. It will include those who owe more than 150,000 euros to the state or funds.

Ανεξάρτητη Αρχή Δημοσίων Εσόδων (AAΔΕ, Independent State Revenue Administration) And e-ΕΦΚΑ in the coming days they will publish a new joint list of large debtors with debts of more than 150.000 euros before the state and insurance funds.

According to current legislation, publication of the list is scheduled for June 30, 2026. Before that Insurance Debt Collection Center (Center for Insurance Debt Collection) will send an electronic notification to debtors.

Notifications must be sent June 9 via email at Taxisnet. Debtors will be given until June 24to pay off or settle debts and avoid publishing your data.

Who will be on the list?

The list includes individuals and legal entities that have overdue debts to AAΔΕ and/or e-ΕΦΚΑ for an amount more than 150.000 euros.

We are talking about debts that:

  • exceed 150.000 euros on the principal amount of debt or contributions;
  • are overdue one year;
  • belong to the period before April 2025 inclusive.

The list can include those who owe only to the state, only e-ΕΦΚΑ or simultaneously to both departments.

Who won’t be published

Debtors who manage to settle the debt before the due date and comply with the terms of the installment plan are excluded from the publication.

Also not included in the list:

  • debts for which it operates suspension of collection;
  • debts recognized hopeless for collection;
  • debts of deceased persons;
  • debts of minors;
  • debts of legal entities of the narrow or broad public sector.

At the same time, the deadline June 24 may be adjusted if a decision is made on a new emergency installment plan for 72 payments. The Ministry of National Economy and Finance is considering the possibility of giving debtors additional time, as happened in 2023 with a special scheme for debts during the pandemic.

How to leave the list

Even after publication, debtors will still have the opportunity to have their data corrected, deleted, or removed from the list.

According to the document ΚΕΑΟ No. 1094233/26-05-2026, data can be corrected or deleted:

  • at the initiative of the service;
  • at the request of the debtor himself;
  • after repaying the debt;
  • after including the debt in the current installment plan;
  • if it is determined that there are legal grounds for exclusion from publication.

Applications will only be reviewed by the competent authorities and forwarded for removal or correction if the statutory conditions are actually met.

Editorial comment

Publishing a list of large debtors is not just a technical procedure. This is one of the toughest instruments of state pressure on those who have been accumulating debts to the tax and insurance funds for years.

On the one hand, the logic is clear: if the debt exceeds 150.000 euros and hangs for more than a year, the state wants to show that patience is not endless. Especially when we are not talking about small household debts, but about large sums that directly affect the budget and the social insurance system.

On the other hand, public “hanging out” of debtors always remains a controversial tool. One list can include very different cases: from companies that deliberately did not pay, to businesses crushed by a crisis, a pandemic, rising costs and a chain of debts.

This is why exceptions, installments and the ability to correct data are important. If the system is run rough, it turns not into a mechanism for recovery, but into a public board of shame. If it works accurately, it could be a way to separate those who really don’t want to pay from those who can still return to the legal field.

The main question, as usual, is not the law itself, but its application. Will large and well-protected debtors be treated equally harshly, or will state strictures once again prove particularly effective against those without political and financial protection?

Conclusion: the new list of large debtors will become a test not only for the defaulters themselves, but also for the state. Because the fight against debt only makes sense when it looks not like a show, but like a fair and equal application of the rules.
