Greece tops the world ranking of the most beautiful tourist destinations for 2026

Greece took first place in the international ranking of the most beautiful countries in the world for 2026, published by World Population Review. Got second place New Zealandthird – Italy.

The rating, as noted in the publication, is not based only on tourism statistics. It is compiled from aggregated data from several international sources and lists, including travel guides, traveler ratings and publications such as Condé Nast Traveler And Travel + Leisure.

On the list World Population Review Greece has been described as a country where ancient history, island landscapes, Mediterranean light and natural beauty create an image that remains one of the most recognizable and attractive in the world. The publication actually describes Greece as “living postcard” – the wording, of course, is touristy to a crisp, but it’s difficult to argue with the Aegean Sea, the Cyclades and ancient monuments. Even a skeptic sometimes has to capitulate before sunset.

Also ranked high Switzerland, Spain, Thailand, Norway And Iceland. Each of these countries is represented in the ranking through its own type of beauty: mountain landscapes, coasts, islands, northern nature or cultural heritage.

At the same time, the authors of the rating emphasize that the concept “the most beautiful country” remains subjective. Perception is influenced by the personal experience of travelers, natural landscapes, architecture, culture, climate and even the season in which a person first saw the country.

For Greece This rating is not just another compliment from the travel press. Against the backdrop of high competition in the Mediterranean, it works as an additional argument for the country’s promotion ahead of the 2026 season. And here Greece has a really strong position: the combination of islands, ancient heritage, sea, mountains, gastronomy and a recognizable image makes it a destination that is difficult to replace with just one.
