ΕΛ.ΑΣ. is looking for a possible accomplice of an Albanian nicknamed “Titi”who was wounded by police after a shootout in Mikrolimano. According to the latest Greek media reports, the second participant could have left Greek territory after the May 23 incident.
As already written “Athens News”a serious incident occurred at dawn on May 23 in the area Mikrolimano in Piraeus. During the police operation, an armed Albanian, known in the criminal community as “Titi”.
According to police, the man was leaving the cafe when officers from the anti-extortion unit tried to stop him for a check. He refused to comply and, according to police testimony, pulled out a weapon. One of the officers opened fire and wounded the suspect.

After the shootout, the area was cordoned off by large forces ΕΛ.ΑΣ.. Explosive device disposal specialists were called to the scene. During the inspection they were found three pistols, backpack with weapons And bag of grenades inside the cafe. The wounded man was taken to hospital “Attikon”where he is under guard.
Police are looking for a possible accomplice
Now the investigation has reached a new stage. According to Greek media, ΕΛ.ΑΣ. looking for a possible accomplice “Titi”. The investigation is checking the version that this man also has a heavy criminal past and could have fled outside Greece immediately after the incident.
Of particular interest is the fact that both, according to publications, could be associated not only with the current episode in Mikrolimanobut also with an older case from 2012. Then the situation almost ended in mass bloodshed during a clash with the police.
We are talking about an episode in which he participated Christ Balaskasbrother of a prominent police unionist Stavros Balaskas. According to Greek media descriptions, “Titi” then he raised the machine gun Kalashnikov towards the police officers and was allegedly ready to open fire. Shots were avoided only because the weapon’s magazine became detached and fell to the ground.

The police still consider this incident to be the moment when an accident prevented a massacre. And if the current information about the possible connection of the wanted accomplice with the same episode is confirmed, the matter is Mikrolimano will no longer be just another shootout with an armed criminal. It will again raise the question of old criminal connections that do not disappear for years, but simply go into the shadows.
According to Greek media, the name “Titi” has also been linked to other serious crimes, including robbery, escape from custody and possible involvement in organized crime. Separately, it was reported that he had previously been deported from Greece, but subsequently found himself back in the country.
This is what makes the story especially disturbing. If a person with such a record, after deportation and a criminal record, appears again in Greece with weapons and grenades, the question is no longer just about a specific criminal. The question for the system is: who controls the execution of decisions on expulsion, who monitors the return of dangerous individuals and why such figures again end up on the streets of Greek cities.
Now ΕΛ.ΑΣ. it remains to be established where the possible accomplice is, what role he could have played in the incident in Mikrolimano and whether it is connected with previous armed episodes. If the theory that he fled abroad is confirmed, the investigation may require international cooperation.
History with “Titi” has already gone beyond the usual crime chronicle. This is a story about how dangerous criminals with a difficult past continue to return to the attention of the police only when pistols, grenades and shooting reports are already on the table. But I would like, of course, for the state to notice such people a little earlier – preferably before the moment when a machine gun accidentally saves a policeman’s life.
