Greece again found herself at the center of American publications about UAP — unidentified anomalous phenomena.
Pentagon published a second batch of declassified materials, including an episode with an object recorded over Greek airspace January 1, 2024.

Term UAP means precisely an unidentified phenomenon: the object was noticed, but its nature at the time of analysis did not receive a final explanation. What was recorded over Greece
According to published materials and Greek media reports, an American military platform recorded an object diamond-shapedwhich moved at a speed of about 434 knots – approximately 800 km/h. The object was only visible through a short-wave infrared sensor SWIR. After switching the camera to the visible spectrum, the target disappeared from the observation field.

The recording is accompanied by a video of approx. 65 seconds. The description also talks about a strange protrusion at the bottom of the object, similar to a sensor or probe. It sounds beautiful, almost like a movie trailer. But for now this is not proof of extraterrestrial technology, but just a mysterious episode in a military archive.

Official American section PURSUEwhich is open to publishing materials about the UAP, presents these documents as a step toward transparency. Head of the Pentagon Pete Hegseth said it was time for Americans to see these files with their own eyes. The eyes saw it. It seems there was no sensation.
Why is the reaction so sluggish?
The most telling thing about this story is not the video itself, but the weak reaction. Neither in Greecenor is there much excitement in the world. Society seems to be already tired of the genre “we were shown a UFO, but again without aliens”. People looked, shrugged, and returned to more earthly problems: wars, prices, debts and political chaos.
And here the main political layer begins. Against the background of the war with Iranhigh fuel prices and falling confidence in the American administration, the new wave of publications about the UAP seems too convenient. Previously “Athens News” already wrote that the topic of UFOs became for the team Donald Trump possible smoke screen: “Trump posted a photo with an alien: a smokescreen for Iran and the Epstein case?”.
The White House’s problem is that space has not covered Iran. According to Reuterspressure is mounting around Trump’s Iran policy as the war has become unpopular and congressional Republicans already face internal divisions over limiting the president’s war powers.
UFOs do not save you from political reality
The UAP story would make a great news story: mysterious objects, secret archives, the Pentagon, video, words about transparency. Under normal conditions, this would occupy the media field for a long time. But now the public understands too well when they are shown a shiny object not to look at the fire behind them.
Trump can release files about UFOs, threaten opponents, look for new news stories and turn any topic into a show. But the main question remains on earth: what to do with Iranhow to explain the goals of the war, how to maintain ratings and how not to turn the crisis into a long political hole.
Iran, in turn, is well aware of Washington’s nervousness. For Tehran, prolonging the conflict and increasing internal pressure on Trump is already part of the strategy. Neither diamond-shaped objects, nor old archives, nor talk about aliens will help here. War has an unpleasant feature: it disappears poorly after switching the camera.

Files Pentagon interesting, but not sensational. Yes, the military recorded strange objects. Yes, some episodes remain unexplained. No, this is not evidence of alien life. Calling the unidentified immediately extraterrestrial is about the same as calling any Greek bureaucratic mistake cosmic intervention. There is temptation, but no evidence.
The main thing in this story is the political moment. The publication of UAP files coincided with a severe crisis for Trump: war with Iranpressure in Congress, questions about the objectives of the operation and growing public fatigue. In this situation, UFOs look less like the revelation of the century and more like an attempt to give the public a new screen to watch.
But the screen turned out to be weak. The world looked at the “flying diamond” over Greece and did not stop discussing Iran. And this is, perhaps, the main failure of the entire operation of information distraction: even UFOs no longer save politics when there are too many real problems on earth.
