According to Italian media reports, the criminals used cars with fake flashing lights, to give the impression that these are civilian police vehicles.
After the attack, law enforcement officers found one of the used cars – Alfa Romeo – on a country road. The car was empty, but nearby the police detained one man in a mask, without a weapon.
A second suspect, also wearing a mask, was later found trying to escape on foot.
At a short distance from the place where the two suspects were detained, the police also identified an SUV, which, according to investigators, was intended for escape of criminals after the attack.
At the same time, the operation to search for at least two more participants in the attack continues. It is possible that the group that carried out this a ostentatious and carefully planned robberycould consist of more than four people.
