Laura’s case: the police are questioning the taxi driver who took the girl to the airport


As part of the investigation into the case of the disappearance of 16-year-old Laura, a taxi driver was invited to the West Attica police department, who delivered the girl from the area on January 8 Omonia to the international airport Eleftherios Venizelos.

According to law enforcement sources, the interrogation will take place on Saturday, January 31, at the Office for Combating and Solving Crimes of Western Attica.

The police were able to establish the minor’s route using CCTV cameras. It was recorded that the taxi at the indicated hours was following the route Zografou – Omonia.

The driver picked up the girl shortly before 12:00 and took her directly to the airport.

The investigation also identified the travel agency where the ticket with the destination was purchased Frankfurt.

New urgent airline request

At the same time, the police sent a new official request to the airline with which Laura allegedly traveled.

The document was sent with the note “Extremely urgent” and theme “Emergency Data Request – Disappearance and Possible Kidnapping of a Minor”.

The text emphasizes: “…due to the presence of a direct threat to life, we ask you to immediately provide the requested information”.

Previous police complaints

Previously, law enforcement agencies had already sent similar requests to all airlines.

The first request was sent on January 12, asking whether the minor had traveled after 10 a.m. on January 8 and was on the passenger list.

The second appeal followed on January 16. It additionally contained the passport details of the girl’s mother to check the possible use of the document.

The third request was sent on January 19 with the note “extremely urgent” and a repeated indication of the risk to the life of a minor.

Progress of the investigation

Investigative authorities continue to collect information about Laura’s movements and check all possible versions of her disappearance.

Particular attention is paid to data from air carriers, video recordings and testimony from the taxi driver.

The investigation is ongoing.
