To the courts of the former Evelpidon school detainees were brought in who, according to investigators, were involved in organized scheme for tampering with fuel pumps at gas stations.
Total 13 arrests madewhile at least 16 gas stationswhere illegal practices were identified were sealed by decision of the authorities.
According to available information, the criminal group operated for about five yearssystematically deceiving consumers. With the help of a specially installed system in gas pumps, the actual amount of fuel entering the vehicle tank was 10–12% less the amount for which the client paid.
Competent authorities assess illegal profitsobtained as a result of the activity of the scheme, more than 20 million euros.
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether other gas stations or persons were involvedand also determine the full extent of economic damageborne by consumers.
