ΔΑΟΕ carried out a large-scale operation in the morning against a network of gas stations, which, according to investigators, “underfilled” fuel unsuspecting drivers using illegal software.

According to preliminary information, the group acted throughout Greece. According to sources, the scheme involved gas stations in Attica, Thessaloniki, Steree-Hellas, Thessaly, Thraceas well as in Central And Eastern Macedonia.
According to the same data, law enforcement officers came to the attention of: more than 30 objects (gas stations, companies and private addresses). Reported 10 detainees.
Among the detainees, according to sources, may be the owner of a gas station in Piraeusthe facility of which was completely destroyed by a bomb explosion March 8, 2024. Three days later, another explosion reportedly occurred: Kallithea in the establishment of the same owner.
According to police sources, the amount of underfill varied from approximately 15% to 35% depending on the amount the client paid. Examples are given: when paying on 20 euros underfilling was about 15%and when 50 euros the figure could rise to 25%.
Investigators are now looking hidden tankswhich could be used for fuel smuggling. Also, as noted, it will be checked whether the group’s activities extended to the area adulterated fuel.
