Putin describes what happened to Tsipras in 2015… or something similar

Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with American journalists gave his assessment of the condition US political lifeusing an image that can hardly be called diplomatic, but easily visual.

According to Putin, over the years of communication with three American presidents he observed the same pattern. Each new leader comes to power with the intention of implementing his own agenda and changing course. However, soon, as the Russian president put it, “people appear in dark suits with briefcases in their hands”after which previously made decisions begin to be adjusted.

With this phrase, Putin actually referred to the phenomenon of the so-called “deep state” – stable bureaucratic system Washingtonwhich, according to him, is capable of blocking or redirecting the initiatives of even elected leaders.

The meaning of this metaphor is not so much in conspiracy theories as in a statement of reality: election cycles change faster than the mechanisms of power themselves. Presidents come and go, but managerial inertia remains.

It is noteworthy that such logic, according to Putin, is not exclusively American. He indirectly pointed out that similar processes can be observed in other countries, where the expectations of voters collide with the limitations of the system.

In this context, history finds parallels in Greek politics. Elections Alexis Tsipras in 2015 were accompanied by widespread expectations of radical change. However, the final list of implemented initiatives turned out to be much more modest than the initial promises.

The irony of the situation is that the change of faces and slogans creates a feeling of a turning point, while real power most often belongs to those who do not participate in electionsbut controls the procedures, resources and rules of the game.

Thus, Putin’s comment sounds less like a criticism of the United States and more like a universal observation: politics loves spectacle, and management loves silence and briefcases.
