Greece donates military equipment to Lebanon within the framework of defense cooperation and security diplomacy. Transfer of equipment provided Republic of Greece free of charge Republic of Lebanontook place on Thursday.
As reported Greek Ministry of National Defensethe operation was carried out in coordination with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and fits into a broader strategy defense diplomacy Athens.
A transport ship was used to deliver the equipment Hellenic Navywho arrived at the port Beirut. The Lebanese side were handed over 13 M113 armored personnel carriers, 10 multi-purpose military vehicles Steyr 680M with a payload capacity of 2.5 tonsas well as auxiliary materials and spare parts.
After arriving at the port, the equipment was officially handed over Lebanese authorities.
It is noted that the decision on the gratuitous transfer of military property was made after meeting between the Greek Defense Minister and his Lebanese counterpartduring which issues of bilateral military cooperation and regional security were discussed.
