Mystical Russian radio station, known in the West as Doomsday Radio(“Doomsday Radio”)again showed activity. Station UVB-76also called The Buzzertransmitted a mysterious word on January 14 at 19.33 Moscow time “luesobaul”radio frequency observers report.
Real purpose UVB-76 still remains unclear. However, there is a widespread opinion among experts that the station is associated with military communications and strategic infrastructure.
The station is often called “Doomsday Radio” due to speculation about its possible connection with nuclear scenarios. Despite the regular transmission of coded messages, until now, none of them have been accompanied by confirmed significant events in the military or political sphere.
What is known about UVB-76
UVB-76 is a closed Russian radio channel broadcasting on the frequency 4625 kHz since the 1970s. It is known for its continuous monotonous hum, which is periodically interrupted by short voice messages containing a set of words, numbers or call signs.
Until 2023, UVB-76 belonged to the Western Military District; it broadcasts continuously on a frequency of 4625 kHz. The radio station transmits a short “buzzing” signal, repeated about 25 times per minute. Sometimes it is interrupted, after which encoded voice messages are transmitted in Russian.
According to Western media, the station is part of Russian missile system “Perimeter” and emits a signal the so-called “Dead Hand”which will trigger a nuclear retaliatory strike if the signal is interrupted by a nuclear attack against Russia. However, according to the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov, “UVB-76” has nothing to do with the system “Perimeter”But “This radio station really has its own function and its own quite important task.”
What exactly does the transmitted message mean? unknown. As in previous cases, experts urge us to refrain from hasty conclusions and consider the signal in the context of the station’s long-term practice.
This is not the first such case
Musical “insertions” on UVB-76 occurred before. In December 2024 years ago the station played a song SHAMAN “I am Russian”, USSR anthem and fragments “Swan Lake”. This also coincided with a period of heightened military and political tension.
Note that when in November 2025 years on air UVB-76 sounded the word “Latvia”Western media also decided that this was a warning about the beginning of aggression against the Baltic country and indicating a target for a nuclear strike using the system “Perimeter”. However, UVB-76 is not associated with the Russian defensive system “Perimeter” and does not indicate targets for nuclear strikes.
From time to time, the radio station broadcasts fancy words, such as “grunt”, “spinobaz” and “stud”, as well as music.

On New Year’s Eve, “Doomsday Radio Station” came to life again. Instead of the usual monotonous buzzing signal, a peculiar sound sounded on the air. “musical concert”. In particular, it was broadcast song based on “Musicians of Bremen” with an aggressive text containing direct threats against Kyiv and statements about “return of Donbass”.
Also on air was “Swan Lake” – a work that in the post-Soviet space is traditionally associated with crises of power and emergency events. (link to telegram 1 2).
