Farmer protest leader Kostas Anestidis found himself at the center of a scandal after he made extremely rude and insulting remarks about the Prime Minister in the presence of television cameras Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the blockade in the area Malgara.
The incident was recorded on Tuesday evening, when journalists approached a representative of the farmers’ movement for comments on the progress of agrarian mobilizations. Instead of answers, expressions were heard that, when recounted on air, inevitably turn into a political scandal. In essence, it was a public flash – a demonstrative one, designed for cameras and for effect.

Verification and blocked accounts
The situation is aggravated by the fact that Kostas Anestidisaccording to Greek media, is being investigated in the case of possible illegal subsidies related to ΟΠΕΚΕΠΕ (Organization for payment and control of agricultural subsidies). It is reported that by order of the prosecutor his bank accounts were blocked.
Anestis himself claims that the measures against him are selective in nature and are an attempt to put pressure on him. In an interview with a TV channel ONE he stated that the blocking of the accounts occurred on December 27 and sharply worsened his financial situation. According to him, the materials of the case have still not been provided to him, and he associates what is happening with the fact that he “spoke too loudly” and “raised uncomfortable topics.”
“I’ll go to a meeting”
A separate resonance was caused by Anestidis’s statement of intention to participate in a meeting of representatives of the agricultural sector in Megaro Maximdespite ongoing review. He also made caustic references to the prevalence of investigations in the political environment, trying to portray his situation as “not the exception, but the rule.”
In general, the story looks like a collision of two lines: on the one hand, the harsh politicization of farmer protests and playing to the public, on the other, legal and financial pressure, which participants in agrarian mobilizations perceive as a tool to “calm the street.” No matter how one views the figure of Anestidis, the scandalous form of statements does not negate the main thing: the tension between the agricultural sector and the authorities remains high, and public dialogue is increasingly being replaced by mutual escalation.
