Tehran is suffocating: tear gas near the walls of the hospital and dozens of dead

Tear gas was used in close proximity to hospitals in Tehran during clashes between demonstrators And law enforcement forces. The incident happened on Tuesday January 6on 10th day of mass protests in Iran, against the backdrop of which, at least, 36 people died.

As the agency explained ISNAto disperse the crowd “Tear gases were used in a narrow alley near the Sina hospital in the center of the capital”. Video footage from the scene quickly spread on social networks, causing a wave of outrage.

In the statement Tehran University of Medical Sciencesreferenced by ISNA states that “the natural reaction of the demonstrators was to retreat from the gas, and as a result, some of the chemicals ended up on the hospital grounds”. In other words, the gas entering the medical facility was explained side effect of overclocking.

According to Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA)based outside of Iran, 34 of 36 confirmed dead were protest participantsmore two associated with security forces. The Iranian authorities, in turn, did not publish the official total balance of victims, stating only the death three law enforcement officers.
