Russia is ready to side with China in the event of a military conflict around Taiwan. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the agency TASS.
This is the first time Moscow so directly and unequivocally declares readiness support China in military confrontationif Beijing takes forceful action against Taiwan.

The head of the Russian foreign policy department is actually identified Russia’s position with China’s position on the status of Taiwan, emphasizing that the island is an integral part of the People’s Republic of China.
“Russia strongly rejects any form of independence for Taiwan“, said Sergei Lavrov, again calling the island “an integral part of China“
The statement comes amid reports that Beijing tested a new hypersonic anti-ship missile system YJ-20which, according to available data, is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 6 and has a range of up to 1,500 kilometers.
At the same time, Moscow is expressing serious concern accelerated rearmament of Japan. As noted, only in 2026 Tokyo plans to focus on the defense of order 58 billion euros.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow would support China if tensions escalate in the Taiwan Strait.
He linked this position to the Russia–China Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, which includes mutual support on issues of national unity and territorial integrity.
