Do you want to change your electricity supplier? This procedure has recently become much easier thanks to a new digital service via Gov.gr.
Changing suppliers is now possible completely online, in just a few steps and without collecting paper documents. The new service speeds up administrative processes, reduces digital bureaucracy and increases competition in the energy market.
How does a change of electricity supplier work?
1. Selecting a new supplier and tariff
First you need to choose a new electricity supplier and a suitable tariff program. This can be done through the company website or in the office. Many suppliers support completely online contract processing.
2. Connection via Gov.gr and providing consent
After submitting your application, you will be redirected via a secure link to the new service Gov.gr. Login using codes TaxisNet and one-time password (OTP) which will be sent to your mobile phone.
The Gov.gr platform will automatically pull up all the necessary data: personal information, contact information, ΑΦΜaddress of the power supply point and other elements from state registers. After checking the data, the user agrees to their transfer to the new supplier.
Thus, paper certificates, copies of bills and ID cards are no longer required – everything happens in digital format.
3. Signing a new agreement
Once consent is provided, the procedure is completed on the supplier’s side. The new contract is generated automatically and can be digitally signed, either through Gov.gr or using tools offered by the supplier itself.
4. Implementation of supplier change
After signing the contract, the process is transferred to ΔΕΔΔΗΕ (Distribution Network Operator)which changes suppliers within a few days. Electricity supply doesn’t stop for a minute.
5. Confirmation and calculations
The consumer receives a final invoice from the previous supplier (before the date of change), after which further invoices are issued by the new supplier. The power supply point number remains the same – only the billing company changes.
