Athens Security Unit during a targeted operation in the area Agios Panteleimonas delayed 14 Egyptian citizenswho, according to police, played an active role in an organized drug distribution network.
The criminal group expanded its activities on almost every street, square and key points in the areaeffectively turning Agios Panteleimonas into an open “supermarket” of prohibited substances.
A special task force was created to develop the case. Υποδιεύθυνσης Ασφάλειας Αθηνώνwhich conducted surveillance for a long time, collected evidence and documented the actions of network participants.
As a result of a sudden operation carried out in a short time, the police managed completely dismantle the network structureapprehending its key members and stopping the ongoing drug trade in the area.
During the operation they were discovered storage and sales pointsnarcotic substances were seized, as well as other material evidence confirming the scale and organized nature of the group’s activities.
This operation is considered one of the most serious blows to the drug trade in central Athens in recent months and, according to police, serves as a clear signal that targeted raids will continue.
The detainees will be taken to competent prosecutor’s officewith the investigation continuing to identify possible accomplices and wider criminal connections.
