Elon Musk again publicly expressed support for the Cypriot MEP Feydia Panagiotouactually proposing him as a candidate for the post of head European Union.
The reason for the billionaire’s statement was a video message from Panagiotou, in which he questions the democratic nature of the current system of appointing leadership EU.
In the published video, the young MEP asks a direct and uncomfortable question: why Ursula von der Leyen was not elected by the citizens. It was this idea, judging by the reaction, that resonated with Musk.

“I want the head of the European Union, who is now Ursula von der Leyen, to be democratically elected, because this is not happening now. She comes to the European Parliament, we say “yes” or “no”, but in my opinion it is more like a show than a vote, because she has agreed in advance with all political parties to support her. So what is happening cannot be called democratic. So this needs to change“, says the video message. Feidia Panagiotou.
This position, apparently, completely coincides with the views Elon Muskwho responded to the video with a brief but revealing publication on a social network, calling for support for the Cypriot politician.
Musk’s latest intervention in the European political debate has once again drawn attention to a chronic issue. democratic deficit in EU institutions – a topic that in Brussels prefer to discuss as quietly as possible, especially when it is raised not from within the system, but in front of millions of subscribers.
