Heavy showers continue to create dangerous situations in Laconiawhere three people were saved literally at the last moment when their car was washed away by a powerful water flow.
According to eyewitnesses, the passengers managed to get out of the car in a matter of seconds before it was completely covered by the rapid current.
Representative Greek Rescue Team of Laconia reported:“In the last one hour and twenty minutes we have evacuated four people from a house that was flooded. The rescue was carried out using a special rescue vessel. The current was very strong, the entire area to the right and left of the house turned into a river.”
The evacuation of families in the area was especially difficult Mavrovouniwhere one of the members had severe mobility impairments. The rescue was carried out in two separate flights, evacuating four people and a dog.
Many locations in Laconia are currently experiencing widespread flooding that continues to spread due to persistent rainfall.
As noted Greek Rescue Team of Laconiathe condition of those rescued is assessed as satisfactory: all have only mild hypothermia.
