In the Athens district of Kipseli, police detained 58 year old foreignerwho is charged with manufacturing fake documents and illegal assistance in the transport of migrants.
According to the investigation, the suspect organized a full-fledged “laboratory” for the preparation of false documents and at the same time was engaged in the illegal sending of illegal immigrants, mainly to Italy. A store was used for meetings and coordination, while individual apartments served as hiding places for illegal immigrants.
Economic benefit criminal activity is estimated at more than 120,000 euros (The minimum amount required by Greek law to open a criminal case). During the searches, the police discovered and seized a large amount fake documentsequipment for their production, as well as cash.
All seized materials and digital media were sent to Directorate of Forensic Research for further laboratory tests.
The detainee, against whom a criminal file has been formed, has already been delivered to the competent prosecutor’s office to continue the procedure.
