IN Patres employees Directorate for Combating Organized Crime a 35-year-old woman was detained and found to have 74 ancient coinssubject to the legislation on protection of cultural heritage.
According to local sources, the detainee kept a collection of coins, the origin of which aroused the interest of the police. The operatives got on her trail after purposefully developing and analyzing the information.
Expertise carried out authorized archaeologistestablished that the coins found belong to early period of the Byzantine Empirewhich makes them objects of special historical value.
Proceedings have been initiated against the woman, the case materials will be transferred to the competent prosecutor’s office for further procedures.
