Escape and lack of support
After violation of contract terms and incessant threats, the soldier and four other Colombians decided to leave Ukraine. The command, he said, responded by stopping the supply of food and water, as well as moving the mercenaries to an isolated room without weapons.
The escape began on June 10. The group collected the necessary amount for transport and bribes and, with the help of a Ukrainian driver, reached Zaporozhyeand then by train to the Polish border. They managed to cross it on June 11. However, when they contacted the Colombian embassy in Warsaw, they received no support and were forced to look for housing and work on their own.
The mercenary also reported the existence of a recruitment network operating in hotels in Bogota, where passports were copied and illegal transportation was organized. Some groups died in dozens: according to him, “50 Colombians died in one operation”.
In his address, he warned his fellow citizens to avoid such proposals: “Don’t come here. Everything they promise is a lie. These 12 million are a scam.”. He described what was happening as a form of exploitation that went far beyond normal military service.
