Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Kristina Gayovyshyn during the meeting UN Security Council stated that Ukraine is ready to constructively work on a peace planthe draft of which was received from the American side, however outlined clear and unshakable “red lines”relating to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state.
“Ukraine has officially received from the American side draft plan. We have outlined fundamental principles that are important for our people.
We agree to work on the provisions of the plan in such a way as to ensure a just conclusion to the war.
In this context, let me make a few key points.First, Ukraine is ready for meaningful negotiations to end this war—including at the leadership level—but our red lines are clear and unchanged.
There will never be recognition, formal or otherwise, of Ukrainian territory temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation as Russian. Our land is not for sale.
Ukraine will not accept any restrictions on its right to self-defense or on the size and capabilities of our Armed Forces.
We also will not tolerate attacks on our sovereignty, including our sovereign right to choose the alliances we want to join.
Any genuine peace process must respect the fundamental principle: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, and nothing about Europe without Europe.”
Background: President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky officially received from the American side a draft plan, and agreed to discuss it.
