Zelensky was angry at Trump’s new peace plan – he canceled a meeting with his representative

Open dissatisfaction in Kyiv has reached a boiling point after details of the new “peace plan” that the administration Donald Trump trying to impose on Ukraine.

According to these proposalsKyiv must agree to recognize all territories occupied by Russia since 2014 as Russian territory, as well as significantly reduce its armed forces and destroy some offensive weapons.

According to sources Reuters And SkyNewspresident Vladimir Zelensky perceived the document as an attempt at political coercion. So much so that he canceled a meeting with the American special envoy Steve Vitkovone of the authors of the project.

Washington, judging by sources, openly declares to Kyiv: the time for protracted maneuvers is over. We need a quick political result that suits both sides, including Moscow. However, for Zelensky such a signature would mean political suicide, and he understands this very well.

According to the document, Ukraine must:

• transfer the rest Donbass and regions controlled by Russia: Kherson, Zaporozhye (except for Crimea, the issue of which is not discussed at all);
• reduce the army by at least 50%;
• abandon key categories of offensive weapons;
• accept drastic cuts to American military aid;
• legalize Russian as the state language;
• recognize the official status of the Ukrainian unit Russian Orthodox Church.

In fact, the country is turning into a state with limited sovereignty and reduced defense capabilities. This would create for Ukraine a constant risk of a second strike, but without the ability to respond adequately.

No less important is that Steve Witkov discussed the project directly with the Russian representative Kirill Dmitrievwhich only strengthened Kyiv’s suspicions: the document was agreed upon without real Ukrainian participation.

If Zelensky refuses, he will be left practically without the United States. European support, even if it is increased, will not compensate for American resources, neither in money, nor in weapons, nor in political weight.

The situation is extremely simple: Kyiv was presented with an ultimatum disguised as a peace plan. Sign – or fight without us.
