Journalist Rania Karadzoferi and her 59-year-old companion were detained by officers police after an overnight breathalyzer test Attiki Odos on Saturday, November 15th.
According to the police, about 3 am the crew tried to stop the car for inspection in the area Metamorphosi. The car, driven by a man and with a famous journalist in the passenger seat, did not stop immediately. The police managed to forcibly stop her already at the intersection of streets Kimi And Kastamonis.
During the check, it turned out that the driver was intoxicated. Breathalyzer showed 0.55 mg/l on the first try and 0.47 mg/l in the second, using the method of measuring exhaled air. This became the cause of the conflict, after which, according to the police, Rania Karadzoferi began to insult and threaten the police.
According to sources in Trochaiathe journalist took out her mobile phone, began filming what was happening and shouting: “Θα σας τελειώσω.” Θα δείτε τι θα πάθετε” – “I will destroy you. You will see what will happen to you.”
As a result the couple was detained: man – for driving while intoxicated, woman – on charges of threats, insult and disobedience.
The driver was issued a fine of 700 euros and a penalty of driver’s license suspended for 90 days.
Herself 52-year-old journalist did not deny the fact of the police stop and that the car did not stop at the moment of the first signal, but insists that she wasn’t driving, didn’t drink alcohol and that the car belonged to a “family friend” and not to her personally.
At the same time, she strongly denies that there was any “chase” or deliberate ignoring of Trohaia’s signal. According to her version, she and the driver were standing at a traffic light at the intersection Kastamonis And Kiminoticed a patrol car in the rearview mirror, but did not receive any light or sound signal to stop:
“We decided that this was a random and absolutely normal situation. In addition, we were both wearing seat belts and the car was driving at low speed.
When, leaving Attiki Odos on Kimi Avenue, we stopped at a red light, at that moment we heard from a megaphone: “Get out of the car, we gave you the signal to stop, but you continued driving and ignored us.”
According to Ranii Karadzoferiafter which five police officers approached the car, surrounded the car and “rudely” demanded that the driver get out. He, as she claims, “shocked, but absolutely calmly,” followed all the instructions, however, according to her, they continued harshly reprimand them as “common criminals”.
The journalist claims that the driver addressed the police with the words: “Guys, please calm down, I didn’t do anything.”without speaking in a disparaging or aggressive manner at any point.
Herself Karadzoferi admits that she was outraged and spoke irritably to the police, stating that she did not agree with the way they were treated:
“I was holding my mobile phone in my hand. Turning to them and trying to stop all this, I asked: “How can I prove that I’m right? Tell me.” But that doesn’t mean I took them off. Did I speak harshly? Yes. Perhaps I could have avoided this, but I couldn’t.”
They paint a completely different picture police sources. According to them, during the check, the 52-year-old journalist got out of the car and began filming the employees traffic police on the video, while insulted and threatened them. Among other things, according to them, the following phrases were heard: “Θα σας τελειώσω.” Θα δείτε τι θα πάθετε” – “I will destroy you. You will see what will happen to you.”
After the incident, employees traffic police detained Rania Karadzoferi on charges of threatening and insulting in execution, as part of standard monitoring regarding a breathalyzer test Attiki Odos on Saturday night November 15, 2025. After some time, the journalist was released.
