Federal Security Service of Russia announced the prevention of a series of sabotage at nuclear energy facilities.
According to Moscow, a group of Ukrainian saboteurs who were trained by British special forcestried to plant more than 20 improvised explosive devices near three Russian nuclear power plants.

Moscow accuses Britain of training Ukrainian saboteurs for attacks to Russian nuclear facilities. Head of the Federal Security Service A. Bortnikov: – “One of the attacks by Ukrainian saboteurs, supported by Great Britain, led to an emergency shutdown of the second unit of the Kursk nuclear power plant”;
– “In August of this [2025] year, the FSB detained members of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group. During the operational and investigative activities, it was established that the training of saboteurs and the planning of their operations were carried out by members of the special forces of the British armed forces”;
– According to Bortnikov, the targets include the Smolensk, Kursk and Kaliningrad nuclear power plants, in the immediate vicinity of which more than 20 explosive devices were discovered and neutralized.
–“Such actions of Ukrainian military intelligence and its British mentors should be qualified as nuclear terrorism.”
According to FSB director Alexander Bortnikov, one of the sabotage attempts led to emergency shutdown of the second power unit of the Kursk NPP. He noted that the arrests occurred in August 2025, and during the investigation it was established that “training, preparation and planning of operations were carried out under the leadership of representatives UK Special Operations Forces“
The list of targets, according to the FSB, included Smolenskaya, Kursk And Kaliningrad NPP. Intelligence officers claim that in total they managed to detect and neutralize more than two dozen explosive devices “at different approaches” to the objects.
Bortnikov called the actions of Ukrainian military intelligence and British instructors “acts of nuclear terrorism”, emphasizing that not only the Russian population was under threat, but also the security of the entire region.
There is currently no official response from Kyiv and London to the FSB statements. Independent sources do not confirm the data presented by the Russian side.
