Rhodes: Albanian accused of molesting 10-year-old son

IN Rhodes the hearing of a high-profile case has resumed, in which 51-year-old Albanian citizen accused of lewd acts regarding his own 10 year old son. The process takes place in Dodecanese court.

According to the investigation, the actions attributed to the accused allegedly occurred during the period from January 2021 to October 2022 in a family setting. According to the publication “Δημοκρατική”the case developed in the fall of 2022 after reports from the school where the child described behavior that “violated his sexual dignity.”

The social worker and school psychologist notified authorities, noting “inappropriate displays of affection” between an adult and a child and suggesting further investigation. During the surveys held October 29 and November 30, 2022the boy reported repeated touches in the intimate area and cases when the father went into the bath with him despite his protests.

One family member initially confirmed the “excessive displays of intimacy” and stated the presence photos with a kiss on the lips, but later partially withdrew his words, citing negative results of forensic medical examination.

The psychologist who examined the child confirmed his ability to give consistent and clear readings without external pressure. Among the children’s drawings presented, there were scenes with the participation of an adult in hygiene procedures, despite the child’s refusal.

According to expert opinion 2022no physical injuries to the child’s intimate areas were found – only old superficial abrasions that were not related to the stated actions were identified.

The defense claims that the contacts were worn “exclusively domestic and hygienic in nature” and have no sexual connotation. Lawyers emphasize the lack of physical evidence and point to the coincidence of the first statements with paternity proceedings.

After interrogation June 18, 2025 the court applied to the accused restrictive measures — a ban on traveling outside the country, mandatory attendance at the police station and maintaining a distance of at least 200 meters from the child until the final court decision.

The case remains under the supervision of judicial and social authorities Rhodeswith a final trial scheduled for the coming months.
