Poland announced the launch of a large-scale voluntary military training program called “Ready”. From November 22, everyone will be able to take basic defense training courses – from schoolchildren to retirees.
According to the Minister of Defense Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamyshthe goal of the project is to train about 400 thousand people. Authorities call it a response to “unprecedented security threats” and geopolitical tensions in the region.

“There is a war going on beyond our border, sabotage is taking place in the Baltic Sea, and battles are being fought in cyberspace. We are living in the most dangerous times since World War II.” – the minister emphasized. According to him, Poland must not only strengthen the army, but also prepare society for new types of threats.
From survival to cyber defense
The program includes four one-day modules: safety basics, first aid, survival and cyber defense. Training takes place on weekends, and registration is available through a special mobile application. Large companies will be able to organize employee training centrally.
As the Ministry of Digital Development of Poland clarified, the courses are not equivalent to military service and do not require an oath. It’s more like “civil defense literacy“is a step towards creating a sustainable society capable of acting in crisis situations.
Army and society
