False plumber robbed pensioners’ apartments in Attica for 283 thousand euros


Attica police uncovered activities 59-year-old fraudsterwho for months deceived and robbed elderly people, posing as plumber or house occupant. His actions covered areas Pangrati, Piraeus, Kallithea, Patisia, Kypseli And Ambelokipi.

“Leak check” as a method of deception

The criminal acted according to one scheme: he stated that he had found water leakand asked the owners to open the door to “check the pipes.” Once inside, he distracted the residents and stole money and jewelry. Arrest and charges filed

According to ΕΛ.ΑΣ.man arrested October 15, 2025 following an investigation by Pangrati Police Department. During the investigation it was proven 15 episodes of thefts and robberies for a total amount over 282,800 euros.

The suspect turned out to be Marin Ioannidisson of Dimitrios, born November 23, 1966 in Germany. Charges have been brought against him for serial thefts and fraud with aggravating circumstances, as well as illegal imprisonment the victim.

Criminal past

Investigators established that the detainee already had conviction for fraudaccording to which he was sentenced to three years and three months in prison. In addition, he was already under investigation in other cases of theft in Athens.

The man used different legends – sometimes he introduced himself utility technicianSometimes tenant of the neighboring apartment. His goal is to gain the trust of older people and distract attention in order to quickly steal everything valuable.

Police response

In an official statement EΛ.ΑΣ. it is emphasized that they are published photographs and personal information suspect by order of the Piraeus prosecutor’s office so that possible victims could identify him. Police urge anyone who has suffered similar acts to report to the nearest police station.

The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is warning citizens to be careful and do not open doors to strangers, even if they introduce themselves as experts.
