EΛ.ΑΣ. announced liquidation gangs of fake copswhich operated in Athens And Piraeusattacking minors and stealing their personal belongings. Two members of the group were arrested – they are 29 and 20 years old, two more accomplices are being sought.
According to the police, the 29-year-old attacker was detained on October 29 in Piraeus by members of the group ΔΙ.ΑΣ. shortly after the 16-year-old was attacked. The criminal introduced himself as a policeman, stopped the young man under the pretext of checking his documents and, using force, took away his personal belongings, after which he tried to escape on a motorcycle.
The next day, his 20-year-old accomplice was arrested. A criminal case has been initiated against both of them under articles of creation and participation in a criminal organization, multiple robberies, thefts, arbitrariness (analogous to “appropriation of police powers”), causing bodily harmas well as according to the laws on weapons and drugs.
During searches of the detainees’ homes, police seized clothing used in the attacks and knife. The investigation identified eight episodes of thefts and attacks committed in recent months in the areas of Piraeus and Athens.
The police are continuing their investigation to establish the involvement of those arrested in other similar crimes and to identify the remaining members of the group.
