The tragedy occurred in the American state Kentuckywhere is the company’s cargo plane UPS crashed shortly after takeoff from the city Louisville. According to preliminary data, at least four people were killed, and eleven more received injuries of varying severity.
Governor Andy Beshear reported that the number of victims could increase as some of the victims were in critical condition. He added that rescuers continue to search for people who may have been trapped in buildings damaged by the plane crash.

The disaster led to the temporary suspension of all flights to and from Muhammad Ali International Airportlocated in the south of the city. According to the mayor Craig Greenbergall emergency services are on the scene. The fire that followed the explosion was so large that an evacuation of a five-mile radius was required, later extended to areas as far north as Ohio River.
The plane crashed near Worldport – the world’s largest logistics center UPSwhere more than 400 thousand parcels are processed daily. According to preliminary data, there were three crew members on board, whose fate is still being determined.

The fire engulfed several buildings, and video from the crash site shows the plane bursting into flames immediately after takeoff. Authorities urged residents to avoid the area Fern Valley And Grand Lane near the airport. Police and firefighters continue to clear the area to prevent further fuel explosions.
According to data FlightRadar24Flight 2976 reached only 175 feet of altitude before losing control and crashing. The liner was heading to Honolulu and was fully loaded with fuel for an intercontinental flight – this is what caused a powerful fire, noticeable from different parts of the city.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the disaster, and UPS stated that it was cooperating with the investigation and would provide assistance to the families of the victims. The city is still living in emergency mode.
