On Wednesday morning (May 11) in Xanthi there was earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale.
According to the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded 13 kilometers west-northwest of Xanthi.
The depth of the source was estimated at 15.1 kilometers.

Seismologists reassure after an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, which occurred in the morning in Xanthi, however, professor of seismology and president of the OASP Efthymis Lekkas notes that special care must be taken.
The earthquake was particularly strong and was felt by everyone, Mr Lekkas told ERT from Kavala, where he is based. An earthquake requires special attention because it happened on a big faultthe Xanthi-Chrysopolis-Kavala fault, he explained.
According to the professor, it is necessary to closely monitor the development of the situation in the coming hours.
