gov.gr system begins to send out the first fines recorded by artificial intelligence cameras – even for minor violations that drivers did not notice.
In the coming days, Greek drivers will start receiving through the platform gov.gr first finesrecorded by cameras with artificial intelligence. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport Kyryakos Kyryanakisnoting that the system will be rolled out gradually to avoid “erroneous notifications.”

According to him, the first ten such cameras have already been installed on buses, ten more – on the territory Attica. In the future the project will be expanded: “Every municipality that installs cameras will receive part of the income“, – the minister explained.
However, the innovation caused a wave of discontent. Drivers fear that now any minimal deviation from the rules will become a “violation”. On many roads speed limit – 60 km/hand even driving at a speed of 62 or 65 km/h will now be recorded as a violation. After all AI doesn’t know “roughly” — only “exactly”.

The system does not take into account the human factor: worn markings, bumps in the road or that the motorist may have dislodged due to an obstruction. But the cameras will be impartial: if the algorithm “sees” a violation, the fine will be automatically sent to the digital driver’s state mail.
“It’s a gradual process, the cameras are learning.”says Kiryanakis. But society ironically notes that the state wants citizens to behave like Swiss peoplewithout offering them Swiss roads and transport.
The minister also commented on complaints about Crowd of people in the Athens metroexplaining this by “temporary delays due to repairs.” He promised to return five trains to service and order fifteen new ones by 2026, as well as upgrade the air conditioning in the carriages.
Nevertheless, drivers and passengers agree on one thing: if the state demands ideal behavior, it must provide ideal conditions. And until this happens, AI cameras will record millimeters, and citizens will pay for kilometers.
