October 28on the day of the Greek national holiday, public transport will operate on a Sunday schedule. Due to holiday events and parades OΑΣA introduces a number of changes and temporary restrictions in the movement of the metro, trams and buses.
Metro and tram
Metro station “Syntagma” closes at 08:00and trains will pass through it without stopping. Line 6 tram (“Picrodaphne – Syntagma”) will end at the station “Fix” from 08:00, and line 7 (“Asklepio Voula – Agia Triada of Piraeus”) – at the station “SEF” from 09:00 until the end of the parades.
The movement of trams to the city center is temporarily suspended, and the routes will be restored only after the completion of the festive events. Also, the bus line will not operate until the end of the parades. 060and the line Χ95 will only go to the metro station “Catekhaki”.
Buses and commuter routes
In different areas Athens metropolitan area Bus service will be partially or completely suspended. Among the changes:
- Ilioupoli: line 237 (7:00–13:45)
- Neo Heraklio: line 642 (8:00–14:00)
- Metamorphosi: line B9 (8:00–14:30)
- Ilion: lines 701, 703, 719, 747, 892, A11, B11 and trolleybus 25 (9:00–13:00)
- Keratsini–Drapetson: line 859 (9:00–13:00)
- Corydallos: lines 809, 810, 830, 831, 842, 806 (9:00–14:00)
- Agia Varvara: lines 830, 837, 892 (9:00–14:00)
- Penteli–Melissia: lines 410, 450, 451, 530, 460, 461 (9:30–13:00)
- Philotei–Psychico: lines 036, 140, 402 (10:00–13:00)
- Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni: lines 116, 117, 122, Χ96 (10:00–13:00)
- Acharnes: lines 537, 721, 734, 740, 755, 755B, A10, B10 (10:00–14:00)
- Perama: lines 841, 842, 843, 819, 818 (10:00–14:00)
- Spata–Artemis: lines 319, 326, 304, 305 (10:00 – until the end of the parades)
- Nea Ionia: lines A8, 602, 724 (10:00 – until the end of the events)
- Agios Stefanos: lines 509, 509B, 535 (10:30–13:30)
- Singing: lines 501, 527 (12:00–13:30)
- Egaleo: lines 750, 801, 807, 813, 829, 836, 852, 856, 865, 866, 876 (during events)
After the completion of the festive events, traffic will be gradually restored. For information, passengers are advised to contact OASA information center at 11185.
Street closures
Because of parades from 09:00 in the morning until they end at Athens Traffic on the streets will be blocked:
- Leoforos Vasilis Amalias and all the streets adjacent to it;
- Eleftherios Venizelos (Panepistimiou) along the entire length;
- Leoforos Vasilis Sophias between the streets of Vas. Constantine and Panepistimiou;
- Leoforos Singru between Af. Diak and Dionysius the Areopagite;
- Af. Diakou – completely and with adjacent streets.
From 06:00 until the end of the service at Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens the street will also be closed Mitropoleos.
IN Piraeus traffic will be limited from 09:00 to 14:00 on the streets 34th Infantry Regiment, Iron Polytechnic And Vasilios Georgiou.
Traffic Police encourages residents to avoid the center and use alternative routes. The restoration of normal traffic is expected after the completion of all festive events.
