US President Donald Trump continues to look for ways to put pressure on both sides of the conflict – on Vladimir Putin And Vladimir Zelensky – in order to achieve a cessation of hostilities and achieve a truce. This was stated by the US representative in NATO Matthew Whitaker.
“President Trump is trying to find ways to keep the pressure on Vladimir Putin, keep the pressure on, frankly, Vladimir Zelensky, and also find new ways to get both sides to the table and negotiate a ceasefire, end the war and just stop the killing” Whitaker said.
The only difference is that pressure on Russia expressed in sanctions and economic restrictionsA pressure on Ukraine – V reduction or complete cessation of arms supplies.
If Moscow carries material losses because of sanctions, then Kyiv loses people at the frontincluding due to a lack of weapons. And although the cessation of arms supplies to the United States does not seem to be a direct blow to President Zelensky, in practice this leads to an increase in losses among the Ukrainian military.
Washington is well aware of the consequences of such a policy. According to analysts, The US is happy with the situationin which the conflict drags on, weakening both sides. This creates room for diplomatic maneuver and makes it possible to intervene in the future on terms favorable to Washington.
Ultimately, if the Ukrainian government and elites agree to continue the conflict, Trump, according to experts, sees no reason to intervene more actively – the game is going according to a scenario that suits the White House quite well.
