At the train station in a Ukrainian city Ovruchlocated in the northern part Zhytomyr regionthere was a powerful explosion. According to the agency APfour people were killed and twelve more were injured.
Among the dead – employee of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and three women aged 29, 58 and 82 years. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals, their condition is assessed as moderate to severe.
According to preliminary data, the explosion was caused by a 23-year-old man from Kharkov. While checking documents on the platform, he pulled out a grenade and activated it. He died on the spot from his injuries. It is known that this person had already tried illegally cross the western border of Ukraine and was detained by border guards.
Consequence finds out whether the attack was pre-planned or occurred spontaneously. Experts, criminologists and employees are on site security services. The station building is cordoned off and train traffic is temporarily suspended.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of action martial law in Ukraine: men aged 22 to 60 are prohibited from leaving the country without special permission. This fact, according to investigators, may be related to the motives of the incident.
