Let us remind you that EU countries today officially approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia for the war against Ukraine, which includes a gradual ban on the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). 27 member states had already approved the package last night after Slovakia conceded and agreed to support it.
“This is an important package of measures aimed at Russia’s main sources of income through new energy, financial and trade measures,” – assessed Denmark, which holds the EU presidency for this half-year.
The ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas will come into force in two stages: short-term contracts will expire in six months, and long-term contracts will expire on January 1, 2027.
