“Tomahawks” did not reach: FT reports the failure of negotiations between Trump and Zelensky

The Financial Times gave its version of the latest meeting between Trump and Zelensky. Trump refused to supply Tomahawks to Kyiv and demanded the surrender of territories.

According to the FT and Reuters, the meeting was held in a raised voice: Trump criticized the Ukrainian leader and refused promises. However, the White House says the conversation was “difficult but constructive.”

Kyiv, it seems disappointed by Trump’s restraint and is afraid that Washington will switch to a policy of “withdrawal from the war” and a gradual reduction in aid to Ukraine, according to the Financial Times.

  • Trump called on Zelensky to accept Russia’s terms to end the war. The emphasis is on the fact that Trump insists precisely on the conditions of the Russian Federation, and not those developed by himself. From the first lines they bring under the same notorious “Trump’s Afghanistan”;
  • Trump warned that Putin intends to destroy Ukraine if it does not agree;
  • Trump told Zelensky about the need to conclude an agreement because “If Putin wants, he will destroy you”. Both theses are under the narrative “Trump is broadcasting Putin’s threats to Zelensky”;
  • Friday’s negotiations repeatedly escalated into a heated exchange: Trump swore, threw aside maps of the front line that Zelensky had brought, and insisted that he hand over the entire Donbass to Putin.
    Narrative: Trump forces Zelensky to capitulate to Putin;
  • Trump’s remarks to Zelensky have dashed the hopes of many of Ukraine’s European allies that he could be persuaded to increase support for Kyiv. Three other European officials familiar with the White House discussions confirmed that Trump spent much of the meeting lecturing Zelensky, repeating Putin’s arguments and urging the Ukrainian president to accept the Russian offer. Zelensky was extremely negative after the meeting, and European leaders are not optimistic, but are acting pragmatically as they plan further steps. Narrative: Trump abandoned not only Ze and Ukraine, but also betrayed America’s transatlantic partners;
  • According to the publication, Putin made a new offer to Trump during a telephone conversation: Ukraine should give up the territories of Donbass, which now remain under its control, in exchange for small areas in the south – in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Globalists take advantage of the fact that the Kremlin does not publish its peace proposals, so they come up with their own versions, giving them a negative connotation;
  • Next is the icing on the cake: Ukraine, according to the FT, eventually managed to persuade Trump to support the idea of freezing the current front line, since the transfer of the part of Donbass that remained under Ukrainian control is an absolutely unacceptable option for Kyiv. Here the publication is clearly wishful thinking;
  • Although Ukraine was eventually able to persuade Trump to support a freeze on the current front line, the highly charged meeting demonstrated Trump’s changing position on the war and his willingness to support Putin’s maximalist demands.
    But this is almost a direct threat: if you put pressure on Ze, we will accuse you of surrendering to Putin. In general, the position of the globalists is already extremely clear: in contrast to Moscow’s proposal, they will insist on peace on the LBS in the hope that the Kremlin will refuse. As we wrote after Trump’s victory, the US President is constantly reminded about Afghanistan so that he cannot come to an agreement with Putin. The globalists have a comfortable position—Trump has driven himself into it.

It’s not difficult to guess what Trump and Zelensky talked about, although there is no exact data about the meeting yet. However, the Financial Times version also has the right to life.
