Scammers in Lesvos and Samos: under the guise of doctors and accountants, they defrauded pensioners of money

The investigation established that the man was part of a group of at least eight people with a clear distribution of roles and a constant pattern of actions. During a search they found him 5,000 euros in cash and a cell phone used to contact the victims.

In parallel, on Samosa police uncovered another group, which included a 30-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. They posed as accountants and convinced victims that they needed to urgently transfer money to resolve “tax issues.” So, they offered one 83-year-old woman to “save her savings” and took away 40,000 euros and jewelry worth about 20,000 euros.

Police found that the couple was also involved in three attempts at similar scams on the island. During their arrest, jewelry was confiscated and 39,800 eurosreceived from illegal activities.

Both groups are accused of participating in criminal organization And many episodes of fraud. Investigations are ongoing to establish possible links between networks in Lesbos and Samos.
