Opened in Athens Greece’s first statue of Prometheusdedicated to small and medium businesses – as recognition of their contribution to the development of the economy and society.
In the park Pedio to Areos at the intersection of Alexandras Avenue and Mavrommataion Street, a new Prometheus statue is a symbol of the resilience and contribution of Greek SMEs. The ceremony is dedicated to 100th anniversary of the Athens Chamber of Commerce (EEA) and brought together the country’s political and business leaders.
Present at the opening Speaker of Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos And Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas. They emphasized that this is the first monument in Greek history dedicated to entrepreneurs and professionalswhich is the backbone of the country’s economy.
Symbol of fire and creation
According to Tasoulas, the installation of the monument is “a symbolic but at the same time significant act of recognition of the contribution of small and medium-sized enterprises to the development of the country.” He noted that Prometheuswho stole fire from the gods and gave it to people, reflects the spirit of creation and freedom so inherent in Greek entrepreneurship.
“Prometheus is the archetype of the human desire for knowledge, freedom and progress. His fire is not just a flame, but a metaphor for technology, art and science,” said the head of parliament. – “Our entrepreneurs are poets of action, heroes of riskwho build their own business and move the country forward.”
A fire that doesn’t go out
The speakers emphasized that modern Prometheus symbolizes not only energy and innovation, but also small business resiliencewho overcome economic difficulties every day. “They are the bearers of freedom, autonomy and creativity, opposing monotony and bureaucracy,” Tasoulas said.
The monument became a reminder that Promethean fire is the fire of knowledge, skill and inspiration that warms not the myth, but the real economy. It is this “human fire” that keeps small businesses afloat and makes them pillar of Greek society.
The appearance of a new monument in the heart of Athens is perceived as an act of gratitude to those who, despite crises and changes, continue to create and work. In the person of Prometheus, Greek artisans and entrepreneurs found their symbolic patron – eternal bearer of fire, (whose liver is constantly pecked by an eagle…)
