The island really has a unique charm. Being in the southeast of the Aegean Sea, north of Leros Island and east of the island of Patmos, Lipsi is part of the Dodecanes archipelago.
In ancient times, the island was known as Ogigia and associated with the goddess Calypso. Today Lipsi attracts tourists with its virgin nature and Aegean color. Small villages located on the slopes of the island create the appearance of an amphitheater rising from the bay.
The lips of wine, which begins on August 10, is a special event that reflects the deep traditions of winemaking on the island. Lipsi wine, known since ancient times, was even delivered to the Vatican for sacred ministry.
On August 23, celebrations are held on the island “Panagia Harow”dedicated to the Virgin (the Virgin Mary of Death). This event attracts hundreds of people who come to honor the miraculous icon in the church of the same name.
Lipsi beaches, such as Katsatia, Cambos and Platis Yalos, are known for their purity and beauty. The island is also famous for its pebble beaches, including Khokhlacur and Xerokambox. Lipsi and its surrounding islands registered in the Natura 2000 catalog are a home for rare species of flora and fauna, including seals of monakhus monahus and sea turtles.
