Gallup reports on “record security”. But in Greece Half of the women is afraid to go out alone at night. Italy and Greece – The worst in EU on female security. In Ukraine, Under the bombs, people feel no worse.
Gallup is surprising again
While the world is blazing wars, conflicts and humanitarian disasters, Gallup reports: 73% of the inhabitants of the planet feel safe. This is a record since 2006. How? Why? Apparently, it all depends on what questions they asked.
Methodology under the magnifying glass

The study covered 144 countriesincluding Greece. More than a thousand people in every country answered questions: do you feel safe at night on the street? Do you trust the police? Were there a victim of theft or attack over the past year?
It turned out that even with a record number of armed conflicts after the Second World War, the “average security” allegedly grew. Mystery? Not really – it’s not about geopolitics, but about subjective sensations.
The problem of Greece
IN Greece The situation is gloomy: 51% of women They admitted that they were afraid to go out at night. For men, the indicator is much higher – 77%. As a result, the country takes the second from the end the place in the EU for female security, second only to Italy, where the trust in women completely collapsed to 44%.
Curious: General “The Law and Order Index” For Greece, it is equal to 73 points – less than that of Ukraine (74), where rockets have been falling daily since 2022. More indicative: Greece shares a place with Niger, the country of military junta and jihadist massaces.
World contrasts

In Latin America and Africa, where the level of murders is the highest, the situation improved slightly – for the first time half of the population said that she felt safe. At the same time, on the other end of the list – The rich monarchies of the bay. There, the level of confidence in safety goes off scale. But where can women walk calmly at night, except for guarded shopping centers and hotels?
Conclusions
Gallup sums up: the world seems to become “Safe”but this is an illusion. Real security requires not only low crime indicators, but also real power of attorney to the state and equal rights for women. In Greece, this is not yet.
